sfeers is a creative and generative standalone midi utility. It does not produce sound. Use it with external hardware synths, drum machines or other midi instruments and software like a DAW or software synth or drum machine. 

Simply select your midi device on the top left of the app to begin. Select a corresponding coloured strip for midi channel 1-16 and start generating melodies by selecting 'g'. To pause/resume play select 'p'. To infinitely autogenerate melodies select 'a'. When activated this displays 'on'. Autogenerate randomly cycles between 1-4 repetitions so you never know what will happen!

You can also manually type in notes (E3 B#4) and rests ( / ) separated by a space or autogenerate a melody in one of the six scales available. These are Major, Minor, MPentatonic, mPentatonic, Aeolian and Lydian. 

Division buttons provide timing divisions from 1/2, being very slow and upto 1/64 running extremely quickly. Slow is great for wandering ambient type music  whereas faster divisions can sound like drones and chords or other effects depending on your midi device sound source. With the tempo + / - buttons you can speed up or slow down sequences by increments of 1 bpm. sfeers runs it's own clock and will sync with hardware and software after selecting the midi device input/output at the top of the app. The timing might not always be super accurate but I have found it to be more than good enough for recording loops directly in Ableton for example. 

sfeers is a great source of random (or not) inspiration for making loops and creating atmospheres. You can control it to make the most of it and find out how it serves you best. Sometimes it's perfect for endless background ambience or maybe even industrial clatter!

For visual feedback, as midi notes are generated they are visually represented by animated coloured spheres floating in the background. Each note is assigned a specific colour. Last but not least, sfeers also has an option for you to save a .txt file of the notes & rests data generated so you can copy paste it back in to the text area for later use. Just click on the squares logo above the channel selector and give your  melody a name.
